Absolutely! Start by using the clicker whenever you give a verbal command, and click right when he does what you want. Over time, you can phase out the clicker as he learns to associate the verbal cues with the desired behavior. Good luck!

My dog responds well to clickers, but I also want him to understand my voice. Can you suggest a good way to combine both?

That’s totally fair! Some dogs do respond well to just verbal cues. It really depends on the individual dog and what works best for them. You don’t have to use a clicker if you find verbal cues effective!

My dog listens just fine to my voice! Anyone else feel this way?

That’s a common issue! Mixing in a clicker could help reinforce those verbal cues. You might want to start by pairing the clicker with the commands she already knows to help her make the connection.

Maybe I should try adding a clicker to the mix. Any tips?

That’s a common problem! Try to simplify your commands and be consistent. Maybe do a mix of both clicker training and verbal cues to reinforce the commands.

Anyone else had this issue? Any advice?

I really like the PetSafe Clik-R! It’s comfortable to hold and has a nice click sound. It’s also pretty affordable!

Beagles can be pretty stubborn, so it’s awesome that clicker training is working for you. It’s really about finding what motivates your dog, right?
